Snapchat has launched what it's calling the most sophisticated AR commerce experience in social media: a skincare recommendation engine that uses the Snap camera's live feed to analyze skin texture, tone, and visible concerns in real time, then surfaces personalized product recommendations from participating brand partners within the AR lens experience.
The feature, built on Snap's SnapML on-device AI framework, processes all analysis locally on the device โ meaning no skin analysis data leaves the phone. Participating brands including Cetaphil, La Roche-Posay, and Drunk Elephant see personalized recommendation cards overlaid on the user's face in real time, with instant purchase links embedded in the experience.
